Free climate change film in Watford
The Age of Stupid, a dramatisation of climate change where a man is living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking back at old footage from 2008, is to be screened at a local venue in Watford on Thursday 16 July at 7.30pm.
The free screening is part of Small Change Big Difference Week which runs from 13 to 18 July 2009.
The 90-minute film, starring In The Name of the Father actor Pete Postlethwaite (pictured), was made on a small budget of just £450,000, a sum reached by 228 people that invested between £500 and £35 each.
Though the screening will be free to attend, tickets need to be booked by calling 01923 226400 or visiting www.watford.gov.uk/ageofstupid, where readers can also watch a trailer for the film.
Watford’s mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, said: “I would urge people to go along and see this controversial film and whilst I do not agree with everything in it, it makes you sit up and take notice and will certainly provoke debate which is what we need more of.”
